She is Director of the Global Health Education and Learning Incubator (Harvard University) and the Center for Health Decision Science (Harvard Chan School). Her work bridges decision science, public health policy, and global health equity, focusing on improving outcomes for vulnerable populations through mathematical modeling and policy translation.
Education:
- Union College (1984)
- Albany Medical College (1988, Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society)
- Residency at Yale University School of Medicine (1988–1991)
- MPH from Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health (1997)
Research Interests: Goldie’s research emphasizes viruses of global health significance, cancer prevention strategies, reproductive health policy, and maternal mortality reduction. She employs decision science frameworks to evaluate public health interventions, particularly in low- and middle-income countries, and advocates for interdisciplinary approaches to global health challenges.
Grants & Awards: Principal investigator on grants from NIH, CDC, the MacArthur Foundation, and the Gates Foundation. Notable awards include the MacArthur Award (2009) for applying decision science to public health, election to the National Academy of Sciences, and the John Eisenberg Award (2008) for research-to-practice translation. She also received the Everett Mendelsohn Excellence in Mentoring Award and numerous teaching honors.
Leadership & Education: As founding director of the Harvard Global Health Institute (2010–2014), she expanded global health education across Harvard’s undergraduate and graduate programs, fostering over 5,000 student enrollments. She created the first online decision analysis course for public health and co-teaches interdisciplinary curricula. Her mentorship has earned her the title of favorite professor by undergraduates, with her global health course attracting >500 applicants annually.
Labs & Teams: Leads the Center for Health Decision Science and the Global Health Education and Learning Incubator, fostering collaboration between academia, policy, and global health initiatives like the Commission on Investing in Health.
