Susannah M. Bernheim, MD, MHS, is an Associate Professor of Medicine (General Medicine) at Yale University’s Yale School of Medicine. She holds dual roles as Director of Quality Measurement Programs at the Yale/Yale-New Haven Hospital Centers for Outcomes Research and Evaluation (CORE) and Core Faculty in the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Clinical Scholars Program. Additionally, she serves as an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Section of General Internal Medicine.
Dr. Bernheim’s education includes a BA from Yale University (1991), an MD from the University of California, San Francisco (2000), and an MHS in Health Sciences Research from Yale (2006). Her research focuses on healthcare quality improvement, health equity, and policy-driven payment systems. She has led initiatives funded by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to develop performance measures and evaluate hospital responses to challenges like the COVID-19 pandemic.
