Canterbury Christ Church Universityمعرفی
Susanna Mitchell serves as a Part-Time Lecturer in Policing at the University of Kent, teaching across Criminal Investigation and Professional Policing Programmes. She holds leadership roles for three core modules: Crime and Science, Criminal Justice System and How to Tell What Works, and Rape and Domestic Abuse, while also acting as Employability Lead for Policing. Complementing her academic work, she serves as a Senior Crown Prosecutor for the Crown Prosecution Service specializing in Rape and Serious Sexual Offences.
Her research centers on vulnerability within criminal justice systems, with specific focus on rape and domestic abuse cases. As a PhD candidate currently completing her dissertation, she bridges theoretical frameworks with frontline prosecution experience to examine systemic protections for vulnerable populations. This dual-practitioner perspective informs both her teaching methodology and research trajectory.
Mitchell's unique position as both educator and prosecutor creates direct pathways for student employability in policing careers. Her module designs integrate real-world prosecution insights, particularly in evidentiary standards for sexual offense cases. The employability initiative she leads connects classroom learning with Crown Prosecution Service requirements, emphasizing practical application of criminal justice principles.
