Orla Slattery

Orla Slattery is a Senior Lecturer at Nottingham Law School, Nottingham Trent University, where she joined in 2022. She co-leads Criminal Law modules on the Solicitor’s Qualification Exam (SQE) Preparation Courses and teaches Criminal Law with Mooting and Applied Legal Knowledge on the LLB program.

• Career Overview: Transitioned from Philosophy undergraduate to law, worked in Crown Prosecution Service, private practice (accredited police station representative and Solicitor Advocate), and provided in-house legal advice to police services.
• Research Focus: Currently collaborating with the Sentencing Council (Ministry of Justice) to review sentencing guidelines for domestic abuse offenses.
• External Roles: Serves as a trustee of the Sentencing Academy.
