Julia Gibby is a Lecturer at Melbourne Law School (Honorary appointment) and Principal Solicitor with expertise in criminal law, government legal practice, and law reform. She holds a BA/LLB (Hons), GDLP, and CM qualifications. Currently, she advises the Victorian Police as part of the Government Solicitor’s Office and serves as a reserve legal officer in the Royal Australian Navy. Her legal career spans roles at the Office of Public Prosecutions and law reform initiatives in Victoria and the UK.

Her research interests focus on criminal law reform, evidence law, sentencing policies, and post-sentence detention.
