Susan Stabile is a Senior Distinguished Fellow at the University of St. Thomas School of Law, holding a full-time academic appointment. She graduated from Georgetown University (BA) and New York University School of Law (JD), where she served as editor-in-chief of the NYU Law Review. Her career includes legal practice at Cleary Gottlieb in New York and Hong Kong, specializing in corporate law and later employee benefits. She previously held the Dean George W. Matheson Professorship at St. John's University School of Law.
Her research focuses on pension/employee benefits law, Catholic social thought's intersection with law, and labor ethics. She co-authored leading texts like Pension and Employee Benefit Law and ERISA Litigation. Her scholarship appears in top journals such as NYU Law Review and Harvard Journal of Law and Public Policy. She also engages in spiritual direction and retreat leadership, integrating faith with legal practice.
Stabile holds affiliations with the Holloran Center for Ethical Leadership, St. John's Vincentian Center, and NYU's Center for Labor and Employment Law. Though not currently teaching courses in 2025, her work influences legal education through her research and institutional roles.
