Susan Redline, M.D. serves as the Peter C. Farrell Professor of Sleep Medicine at Harvard Medical School and Professor of Epidemiology at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. She holds dual clinical appointments as Senior Physician in the Division of Sleep and Circadian Disorders (Departments of Medicine and Neurology) at Brigham and Women's Hospital and Physician in the Division of Pulmonary Medicine at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, positioning her at the critical intersection of sleep medicine epidemiology and public health research.
Her research program centers on population-level investigations of sleep disorders, with particular emphasis on obstructive sleep apnea's epidemiological patterns, cardiovascular consequences, and health disparities across diverse demographic groups. She examines how sleep-disordered breathing impacts metabolic health, cognitive function, and societal well-being through large-scale cohort studies and translational research initiatives.
Dr. Redline is a principal investigator within Harvard's Program in Sleep Medicine Epidemiology (SME), leading collaborative efforts to quantify the public health burden of sleep disorders and develop evidence-based interventions. Her work integrates clinical sleep medicine with population science to address critical gaps in understanding sleep health determinants and outcomes across the lifespan.
