Dr. Susan Moffatt is an Associate Professor at Queen's University's Department of Medicine, specializing in Critical Care Medicine, Respirology, and Medical Education. She graduated from Queen’s Medical School in 1978 and completed training in Internal Medicine and Respirology at Queen's, followed by critical care studies at the University of Washington. Since 1986, she has held concurrent roles as an intensivist, respirologist, and clinician educator. Key contributions include developing Queen’s postgraduate Critical Care Medicine Program, serving as ICU Director for 12 years, and creating innovative clinical skills courses.
Her academic leadership roles include Chair of the Royal College Specialty Committee for CCM and Interim Division Chair (Dec 2021–June 2024). She has been honored with over 20 education awards, including the 2023 Stephen Archer Leadership Award and the 2024 Distinguished Service Award. In December 2024, she will retire after a 38-year career at Queen’s.
Research interests focus on medical education, clinical skills training, and critical care. She has mentored numerous colleagues and expanded academic missions through new hires during her interim leadership.
