Dr. Susan McGurk is Professor of Occupational Therapy and Director of Cognitive Remediation Initiatives at Boston University's Center for Psychiatric Rehabilitation. A neuropsychologist specializing in cognitive impairments in serious mental illness, she developed the evidence-based Thinking Skills for Work program to improve vocational outcomes.
Her research examines cognitive enhancement methods and their impact on work, education, and independent living for people with psychiatric disabilities. Current NIMH and NIDILRR-funded projects include: adapting cognitive remediation for educational goals, augmenting programs with home-based tablet practice, and personalized approaches to cognitive service delivery.
Honors include the Gerard Hogarty Award for Excellence in Schizophrenia Research (2007) and Rehabilitation Practitioner of Distinction Award (2004).
