Susan Marshall Mason

Susan Marshall Mason, PhD, MPH is an Associate Professor at the University of Minnesota, affiliated with the Division of Epidemiology & Community Health. She is also a member of the Healthy Weight Research Center.

• Education: PhD in Epidemiology (2010) and MPH in Maternal & Child Health (2004) from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill; BA in Women's Studies (2000) and BS in Chemistry (2000) from the College of William and Mary.

As a social epidemiologist, her research examines how adverse and traumatic experiences (e.g., childhood abuse, racial segregation, violence) affect population health outcomes. She focuses on prevention strategies for public health and clinical practice, with expertise in social determinants of health, maternal/child health, and health disparities.
