Susan Mac Cormac is a Partner at Morrison Foerster and co-chairs the firm’s Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG), Social Enterprise + Impact Investing, and Energy practices. She has been an Adjunct Professor at UC Berkeley School of Law since 2006, teaching courses on Social Enterprise Law, Climate Finance, and Governance. Her legal practice focuses on corporate transactions for impact investors and developing innovative legal structures addressing environmental challenges.
She is a former founding board member of the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board and currently serves on the board of Business for Social Responsibility. Suz has pioneered hybrid corporate structures and financial instruments blending impact with traditional finance, and contributed to California’s Social Purpose Corporation legislation.
Her awards include recognition from the Daily Journal (CLAY in 2012 and 2016) and Financial Times (Most Innovative Lawyer in 2015). She advises corporate boards on sustainability-related governance and fiduciary duties in climate contexts.
