Susan M. Collins is the Edward M. Gramlich Collegiate Professor of Public Policy at the Ford School of Public Policy and Professor of Economics at the University of Michigan. She currently serves as President and CEO of the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston and is on extended leave from the University of Michigan. Her roles include being a former dean of the Ford School (2007-17) and former provost and executive vice president for academic affairs (2020-22). She has held academic positions at Georgetown University and Harvard University and remains a nonresident fellow at the Brookings Institution.

Her research focuses on economic growth across industrial, emerging market, and developing countries. She explores how policies and international dynamics influence macroeconomic outcomes, productivity, and social equity. Her work also addresses diversity and inclusion in the economics profession.
She is affiliated with the Weiser Center for Europe and Eurasia, the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER), and the Council on Foreign Relations. She previously led the Association for Professional Schools of International Affairs (APSIA) as president (2013-15).
