Susan Knabe is an Associate Professor in the Department of Gender, Sexuality, and Women’s Studies and the Faculty of Information and Media Studies at Western University. Her research spans critical theory, queer theory, and feminist analysis of media, embodiment, and citizenship. She co-authored *Zero Patience* (2011), a study of AIDS activism, and explores topics like medicalization, representation of trauma (e.g., AIDS and the Holocaust), and the intersections of race, class, and sexuality.
Recent work includes analyses of HPV medicalization, affective collectivity in national crises, and media representations of marginalized identities. Her forthcoming projects include a UBC Press monograph on AIDS and Holocaust legacies, and collaborative works on Indigenous media and pedagogical responses to anti-LGBTQ+ violence.
