Susan Kenney is a Lecturer at Princeton University, specializing in French language, literature, and culture. She holds a Ph.D. in French from Rutgers University (2020), where her dissertation explored hedonism in the spiritual poetry of Gabrielle de Coignard. Her teaching experience includes roles as an English teaching assistant in France, instructor for ESOL programs with refugees in Virginia, and coordinator for the Rutgers Summer in Paris program. She has taught both in-person and online courses, emphasizing pedagogical approaches that integrate linguistic, cultural, and historical content while fostering critical thinking and compassion.
Dr. Kenney’s research focuses on poetry, philosophy, religion, and gender studies. She has studied abroad in France, Belgium, Canada, and Switzerland, and was an exchange student at the École Normale Supérieure in Paris. Her academic journey includes a B.S. in French from Radford University and an M.A. in Foreign Languages, Cultures, and Literatures from Virginia Polytechnic Institute.
She received the 2018 Rutgers School of Arts and Sciences Award for Distinguished Contribution to Undergraduate Education. Her professional activities include teaching French, designing culturally immersive curricula, and contributing to international academic exchange programs.
