Kathleen McKain is an Associate Professor of French, Chair of World Languages, and Faculty President at Saint Martin's University. She holds a B.A. in French from Pacific Lutheran University and an M.A. from Middlebury College, with additional studies at L'Université de Paris X and L'École Supérieure d'Interprètes et de Traducteurs (ESIT) in Paris. Her expertise spans French language pedagogy, Francophone literature, and translation, particularly supporting Congolese asylum seekers through translational work.

Research interests include social justice advocacy through language, cultural diplomacy, and creative writing. She actively engages in interdisciplinary initiatives, directing intensive language programs for youth and leading biennial study tours to France. Beyond academia, she participates in Saint Martin's Theatre productions and Chorale.
Teaching Experience: Tacoma Community College, Pacific Lutheran University, Evergreen State College, and Charles Wright Academy language camps. Specializes in immersive language instruction and global cultural exchange.
