Dr. Susan Hill is a Senior Lecturer in Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Bayes Business School, part of City St George's, University of London. She holds a PhD from London Business School and prior degrees from the University of Cape Town. Her research focuses on innovation/entrepreneurship in large firms and environmental sustainability, including corporate venturing, organizational ambidexterity, and biodiversity strategies. She has been recognized with prestigious awards such as the Heizer Award and the Global 100 Leading Professors in Entrepreneurship. Susan advises PhD students interested in organizational-environment interfaces and entrepreneurship-cognition linkages. Previously, she worked in HR and corporate venturing in South Africa and taught executive education at London Business School.
Her academic qualifications include a PhD (2008) in Strategic and International Management from London Business School, an MBA (1997–1998), and a BA in Industrial and Organisational Psychology (1992), both from the University of Cape Town, South Africa.
Research interests encompass entrepreneurial opportunities, corporate ambidexterity, responsible investment decision-making, and business responses to ecosystem changes. She collaborates with marine scientists on interdisciplinary sustainability projects and explores biodiversity strategies in corporate contexts.
Awards span outstanding reviewer recognitions from the Academy of Management and Strategic Management Society, reflecting her peer-reviewed contributions. She serves on the editorial review board of the Journal of Business Venturing and has published in top journals like the Journal of Management and Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal.
Her work bridges academia and practice, with executive education engagements for firms like BT and IBM. She emphasizes the intersection of entrepreneurship, environment, and cognition in her teaching and research.
