Susan Harewood is an Associate Professor at the University of Washington within the School of Interdisciplinary Arts & Sciences, specializing in the Latin America and Caribbean Studies department. Her work explores the intersections of media, popular music, and power, particularly focusing on Caribbean media's role in community formation and issues of justice and representation.

Her research examines media and popular culture as contested sites for justice, emphasizing race and gender dynamics in the English-speaking Caribbean. She teaches courses that encourage students to reflect on societal interrelations and prioritize written/oral communication skills.
