Susan Ashley is a Senior Lecturer in Cultural Management at Northumbria University, UK. She specializes in heritage studies, cultural policy, and citizenship, focusing on how marginalized groups use museums, memorials, and exhibitions to assert identity and belonging. Her research explores multicultural heritagization, postcolonial memory, and institutional power dynamics.
Education: PhD in Communication and Culture from York University, Toronto. Awards: AHRC Leadership Fellow (2017-2019) and AHRC Principal Investigator (2020-2022).
Her work includes studies on the Chattri Indian Memorial (UK), Sikh Heritage Museum (Canada), and the Royal Ontario Museum's Dead Sea Scrolls exhibition. She has contributed to projects like the Community Historical Recognition Program (CHRP), analyzing Canadian multicultural heritage policies.
