Susan Arnold

Susan Arnold, PhD, CIH, is an Associate Professor in the Division of Environmental Health Sciences at the University of Minnesota's School of Public Health. She serves as Director of both the Midwest Center for Occupational Health and Safety and the Exposure Science and Sustainability Institute.

• Education: PhD (University of Minnesota, 2015), MS (Medical College of Ohio, 2005), BS (University of Guelph, 1987)

Her research focuses on developing and evaluating exposure assessment methods for chemical, biological, and radiological agents, integrating 20+ years of industrial hygiene practice. She specializes in professional judgment, exposure modeling, indoor air quality, and personal protective equipment evaluation. As Director of MCOHS since 2023, she leads interdisciplinary teams addressing complex occupational health challenges.

Arnold has held leadership roles in professional organizations including past Board Chair of the American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists and Diplomat status with the American Board of Industrial Hygiene.
