Candace Tsai

Candace Tsai is an Associate Professor in the Department of Environmental Health Sciences at UCLA. She holds a ScD in Cleaner Production & Occupational Hygiene from the University of Massachusetts Lowell, alongside MS degrees in Management Science and Chemical Engineering, and a BS in Chemical Engineering from Taiwanese institutions. Her research focuses on nanomaterial safety, occupational hygiene, and exposure assessment, with emphasis on airborne particles in mining, manufacturing, and laboratory settings.

Dr. Tsai is a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) and actively contributes to international organizations such as the Sustainable Nanotechnology Organization, the American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists (ACGIH), and the World Health Organization (WHO). Her work integrates aerosol science, toxicology, and engineering to address risks associated with nanotechnology and advanced materials.

Her research innovations include particle sampling technologies, protective clothing evaluation, and computational fluid dynamic (CFD) modeling for exposure prediction. Collaborations span academia and industry, with a focus on multidisciplinary solutions to occupational health challenges.
