Suriyah Bi

Dr Suriyah Bi is a Senior Lecturer in Human Geography at the School of Geography and Planning, Cardiff University. Her work bridges migration studies, critical race theory, and decolonized geographies, with a focus on British Muslim communities and their intersectional identities.

Bi’s research examines the politics of identity, state power, and inequality, emphasizing social impact through policy translation. Current projects include analyses of British Muslim marriage practices in digital spaces and the role of Muslim voters in the 2024 UK General Election.

She has held academic roles at SOAS, University of Edinburgh, University of Oxford, and University College London. Bi founded the Equality Act Review in 2018 to connect academic research with parliamentary networks for policy change.
