Sureshkumar Kamalakannan

Sureshkumar Kamalakannan is an Associate Professor at Northumbria University, affiliated with the Department of Social Work, Education & Community Wellbeing. His research focuses on stroke recovery, disability, occupational therapy, and public health. He holds external positions with the Cochrane India Network, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, and Public Health Foundation of India.

• BSc in Occupational Therapy from Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University (2003)

His research interests include stroke rehabilitation, caregiver support for neurological patients, and technology-driven healthcare solutions. Recent work highlights the feasibility of digital therapeutics (ReWin) for stroke survivors in India and the impact of lockdowns on persons with disabilities during the pandemic.

He is actively involved in the International Stroke Recovery and Rehabilitation Alliance. Currently accepting PhD students for projects on mHealth interventions for stroke caregivers in Malaysia.
