Suresh Borkar is a Teaching Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Illinois Institute of Technology, affiliated with the Armour College of Engineering. He holds a Ph.D., M.S., and B.Tech. in related fields from Illinois Tech and the Indian Institute of Technology, New Delhi. His research focuses on wireless communications, including 4G/5G standards, IoT applications, QoS management, and public safety networks. Prior to joining IIT in 2006, he held senior roles at AT&T/Lucent/Alcatel-Lucent Bell Labs.
Key research areas include dynamic spectrum allocation, priority management for high-priority users, and equitable broadband access. He has authored numerous papers on 5G networks, IoT, and public safety communications, presented at conferences like IEEE COMSOC and IIT Real-Time Communications. His expertise spans telecom technologies, management, and workforce development for emerging technologies.
Notable contributions include articles on future mobile tactile IoT, broadband policy in India, and LTE applications for emergency services. He regularly engages with industry through seminars and management programs, emphasizing technology adoption and competitive workforce training.
