Sungmin Cho is a full-time faculty member in the Department of Modern Languages at Florida International University’s College of Arts, Sciences & Education. She serves as director of the Korea Education Abroad program and faculty advisor for the Korean Language Empowerment Club (KLEC) and Korean Culture Club (KCC).
- Education: Master’s in Korean Language and Literature (thesis on Theatre of the Absurd in Korean Drama and Samuel Baquet’s plays), Master’s in Middle Eastern History (Cairo, Egypt), PhD coursework in Creative Writing (Korea), and doctorate coursework in Drama Education (Australia)
Her research spans Korean drama, theatre studies, and Middle Eastern history, with a focus on interdisciplinary connections to language education and cultural analysis. She integrates creative writing and drama pedagogy into her teaching of Korean language and culture.
Scientific Awards

Beyond academia, she works as a freelance radio writer and enjoys traveling, reading, tennis, art museums, and classical music.
