Suneet Agarwal

Suneet Agarwal, MD, PhD is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School and a physician-researcher at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. He serves as Co-Program Leader of the Stem Cell Transplant Center and specializes in pediatric hematology/oncology with a clinical focus on bone marrow failure syndromes such as aplastic anemia and dyskeratosis congenita.

His research is centered on understanding genetic blood disorders using induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) technology. His lab investigates telomere biology disorders, mitochondrial DNA deletion disorders, and inherited bone marrow failure syndromes. By reprogramming patient skin cells into embryonic-like stem cells, his team studies disease mechanisms and develops novel therapeutic strategies, including small-molecule drugs and gene editing approaches.

The research output, exemplified by a 2020 Cell Stem Cell publication on PAPD5 inhibitors restoring telomerase activity, spans telomere length regulation, mitochondrial genome engineering, and genome-wide discovery of disease pathways.
