University of Houstonمعرفی
Suncica Canic holds the Miller Professorship of Mathematics at the University of California, Berkeley and is a Research Professor in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Houston. Her research focuses on applied and numerical analysis of PDEs, fluid-structure interaction, and biomedical engineering applications like stent design and bioartificial organ modeling. She has received prestigious awards including the 2024 AWM-SIAM Sonia Kovalevsky Lecture Prize and election to the Croatian National Academy of Arts and Sciences. Canic has advised numerous PhD students and postdocs, leading interdisciplinary projects funded by NSF grants. Her work bridges mathematics with clinical applications, addressing challenges in cardiovascular devices and cell encapsulation technologies.
Recent grants include a comprehensive stent design framework (2024-2027, NSF DMS-2408928) and collaborative research on cell encapsulation (2022-2025, NSF DMS-2247000). Seminars like the 2022 Fluid-Structure Interaction series highlight her role in advancing computational methods for FSI problems. Collaborations with institutions like the Texas Heart Institute reflect her translational research impact.
