Suman Bose

Suman Bose, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor of Biomedical Engineering at Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, Arizona. He holds dual administrative appointments as Senior Associate Consultant I-Research in the Department of Physiology and Biomedical Engineering and the Department of Immunology, reflecting his interdisciplinary research in regenerative medicine and immune engineering.

His research focuses on developing next-generation cell-based therapies by integrating biomaterial science, cellular engineering, and drug delivery. Key areas include:

• Engineering programmable therapeutic cells using genomic and synthetic biology for clinical translation
• Designing implantable devices that deliver precise, real-time therapeutic dosing
• Understanding host immune responses to biomaterials to prevent fibrosis and rejection
• Creating durable treatments for chronic diseases such as type 1 diabetes, liver failure, and immune dysfunction

Dr. Bose's work combines multiscale manufacturing, material chemistry, and molecular engineering to overcome clinical challenges like poor cell engraftment and immune rejection. His research aims to enable long-term integration of therapeutic implants and transform regenerative medicine.
