Dr. Sujita Narayan is a Research Fellow at the Sydney Musculoskeletal Health, part of the Faculty of Medicine and Health at the University of Sydney. Trained as a pharmacist at the Fiji School of Medicine, she has practiced in hospital and community settings, including resource-limited environments, and served as the STI/HIV Regional Pharmacist for 13 Pacific countries.

Her research focuses on patient safety and quality use of medicines in older adults, particularly those with dementia, end-of-life care, and life-limiting illnesses. She developed the Medicines Comorbidity Index (MCI), a novel tool to quantify multimorbidity and predict hospitalization and mortality risks.
Recent publications highlight her work in pharmacoepidemiology, including studies on antidepressants for pain, opioid analgesics, and hospital pharmacy research output. Her 15 most recent articles span geriatric pharmacology, multimorbidity, and preventive medicine.

Dr. Narayan co-supervised 3 Bachelor of Pharmacy Honours students, all of whom presented at international conferences and published as primary authors. She currently supervises 4 Masters School of Public Health Capstone students.
As a member of the Charles Perkins Centre, her work intersects with multidisciplinary research teams addressing chronic disease and aging. She has contributed to policy debates on opioid restrictions and end-of-life medication practices.
