Susie Welch is an Associate Lecturer (Teaching and Research) in the Sydney Pharmacy School at the University of Sydney’s Faculty of Medicine and Health. She holds dual roles as a Senior Pharmacist (Research) at St. Vincent’s Hospital, Sydney, and Clinical Lead for the Critical Care pharmacy team (Emergency Medicine and Intensive Care). She is currently a PhD candidate investigating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health and hospital pharmacy practices. Her qualifications include a BPharm, Cert Pharm Prac, and Fellowships from the Society of Hospital Pharmacists of Australia (FSHPA) and the Australian and New Zealand College of Advanced Pharmacy (FANZCAP).
Research interests span Indigenous health, critical care pharmacy, antimicrobial stewardship, and healthcare equity. She has pioneered initiatives linking hospital pharmacists with Aboriginal patients, particularly in diabetes care coordination. Her work emphasizes culturally safe practices and improving healthcare access for marginalized communities.
