Dr. Suhraiya Jivraj is a Reader in Law and Social Justice at the University of Kent's Kent Law School. She is the Co-Director of the Centre for Sexuality, Race and Gender Justice (SeRGJ) and a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA). Previously, she worked with international NGOs and grassroots organizations in human rights and anti-discrimination fields.

Research Interests: Her work focuses on Race, Religion & Law; Intersectionality & Decolonial Studies; Public Law; Human Rights & Equalities Law & Policy; and Muslim feminisms. She employs critical race/religion theories and decolonial studies to address intersecting inequalities, emphasizing feminist/queer of color perspectives. Key projects include the AHRC-funded Decolonising Sexualities Network (DSN) and the Decolonising the Curriculum Project, which led to the DecoloniseUKC Manifesto.

Advising & Grants: Supervised students on critical/intersectional approaches to race, religion, gender, and sexuality. Funded projects include British Academy/Leverhulme work on Bhutan’s Gross National Happiness and collaborations with Muslim women-led initiatives.
Labs/Teams: Co-leads the Centre for Sexuality, Race and Gender Justice and coordinates the Decolonising Sexualities Network, fostering transnational collaborations.
