Barbara Crossouard is a Professor of Theory in Education at the University of Sussex, affiliated with the School of Education and Social Work. Her work intersects sociology of education, postcolonial/decolonial studies, and gender theory, focusing on identity formation, citizenship, and equity in the Global South.

Research Interests: Education’s role in constructing identities, particularly marginalized youth in Sub-Saharan Africa and Muslim communities. She examines intersections of gender, race, religion, and class through feminist, poststructuralist, and decolonial frameworks.
