Sugata Marjit is a Professor of Industrial Economics at the Centre for Studies in Social Sciences, Calcutta. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Rochester, USA, and serves as the Editor of the South Asian Journal of Macroeconomics and Public Finance (SAGE, India/UK). His research spans international economics, economic development, corruption and governance, banking and finance, political economy, and regional Indian economies.
- Research Focus: Global economic policy, rational choice models, and regional economic analysis.
- Awards: Panchanan Chakravarty Memorial Award (1999), Mahalanobis Memorial Medal (2002), Global Development Network Best Paper Award (2003), and V.K.R.V. Rao National Award (2003).
- Affiliations: External Fellow, Leverhulme Centre for Global Economic Policy (2008–2010); REPEC Top 2% in Asia and Top 5% worldwide.
