Dr. Alex Acheampong is an Associate Professor at the Bond Business School, Bond University, and a member of the Centre for Data Analytics. He holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Newcastle (2021) and a BEd (Hons) in Geography and Economics from the University of Cape Coast, Ghana (2015). His research focuses on energy economics, environmental economics, political economy, development economics, and infrastructure economics. He has published over 65 peer-reviewed articles in top journals like Energy Economics and World Development, with over 6,000 Google Scholar citations (H-index 32) and 4,000 Scopus citations (H-index 28).
Dr. Acheampong is globally recognized, featured in the World Top 2% Scientists (Stanford University, 2021–2024), Clarivate’s 2024 Highly Cited Researchers list, and ranked among the top 200 young economists globally (RePEc). His work has influenced policy via contributions to UN SDGs and citations by institutions like the OECD and European Union. He currently serves as an Associate Editor for Energy Economics and Journal of Public Affairs, and an Executive Guest Editor for World Development Sustainability.
His recent research emphasizes energy justice, climate resilience, and the political economy of development. He actively supervises HDR students in applied economics, focusing on topics like energy transitions, financial inclusion, and gender equality. Key awards include the 2024 Bond University Vice Chancellor’s Early Career Research Award and multiple Dean’s Research Awards.
