Sue William Silverman

Sue William Silverman is Professor at Vermont College of Fine Arts where she co-chairs the MFA in Writing program. She holds an MFA from Vermont College of Fine Arts and BS from Boston University. An award-winning memoirist and essayist, her work explores confessional writing, trauma narratives, and the craft of creative nonfiction.

Her research examines the intersection of memoir with social movements like #MeToo, the literary value of confessional writing, and techniques for personal narrative development. She has received multiple book awards and fellowships for her contributions to literary arts.

Silverman has published seven books including craft guides and memoirs translated into multiple languages. Her work appears in literary journals including The Rumpus, Prairie Schooner, and Creative Nonfiction.
