Professor Dame Sue Black delivered the 2022 Royal Institution Christmas Lectures, exploring forensic science through three presentations: analyzing a 1,000-year-old skeleton (Dead Body), investigating a crime scene (Missing Body), and examining courtroom forensics during a heist scenario (Living Body). Her work integrates anatomy, anthropology, and criminal justice systems.
As a forensic anthropologist, Sue Black has led international teams to identify victims and perpetrators in conflicts and crimes. Her research focuses on deciphering life history from anatomical evidence, including gunshot residue analysis and medico-legal investigations. She also collaborated with Katherine Mathieson on a podcast discussing forensic science communication.
