Karen Angus-Cole is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Education at the University of Bath, affiliated with the Milner Centre for Evolution. She holds a PhD in Medicine from the University of Cambridge (2013) and a Master of Biochemistry from the University of Oxford (2009). Her career spans molecular science research, secondary science teaching, and academic roles focused on curriculum development and education policy. She currently co-Directs the BA(Hons) Education with Psychology program and leads curriculum development for this course.
Her education includes a PGCE in Secondary Science (University of Cambridge, 2014), a Master of Philosophy in Medical Sciences (2010), and prior degrees in Molecular and Cellular Biochemistry (Oxford, 2009).
Research interests center on curriculum design, assessment practices, science education, and integrating sustainability into education. Recent work emphasizes STEM teacher recruitment and wellbeing in learning environments. Earlier research explored immunological synapse dynamics and centrosome function in cytotoxic T cells, reflecting her background in cellular biology.
Her advising focuses on MA Education dissertations in her key areas. She actively contributes to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in Education (SDG 4) and partnerships for sustainability (SDG 17).
