Joanne Thompson

Joanne Thompson is a Senior Lecturer in Primary Science Education at the School of Education, Humanities and Languages, Oxford Brookes University. She holds a BSc in Molecular Biology (University of Bath), a DPhil in Molecular Biology (University of Oxford), and a PGCE in KS2/3 Science (University of Cambridge).

Her research focuses on primary science education and STEAM integration, contributing to the Science, Technology, Engineering, Art & Mathematics (STEAM) Research Group. She has extensive teaching experience in primary schools, including leadership roles as science coordinator, Gifted and Talented coordinator, and Leading Teacher in PSHE and KS2.

Before joining Brookes, she worked as a class teacher with Teaching and Learning Responsibility (TLR). Her teaching modules include undergraduate BA Work-based Science (PTE) and postgraduate PGCE (primary) courses in Developing Professional Practice and Science.
