Suann Yang is an Associate Professor of Biology at the State University of New York at Geneseo, where she has been a faculty member since 2016. She is affiliated with the Department of Biology and conducts research through the Yang Lab, focusing on community ecology and biology education.
- Ph.D. in Botany, Washington State University (2006)
- B.S. in Biological Sciences, Cornell University (2000)
Research Interests: The Yang Lab investigates how environmental factors like habitat structure and disturbance shape species interaction networks and community-wide trait patterns. They also explore biology education, emphasizing pedagogical methods and curricular design impacts on undergraduate learning.
Teaching: Dr. Yang teaches BIOL 118 (General Biology Laboratory I) and BIOL 250 (Introductory Biostatistics), focusing on laboratory skills, data analysis, and statistical methods in biology.
Lab & Research Environment: Researchers in the Yang Lab collaborate on field experiments in the Roemer Arboretum and nearby Geneseo, NY, while also engaging in data analysis and modeling. Her biology education research integrates discipline-based education literature and assessment design.
