Stéphanie Homola is a researcher in the field of social anthropology and the anthropology of knowledge. She holds a PhD from the School for Advanced Studies in the Social Sciences (EHESS), awarded in 2013, and has served as a Research Fellow at Collège de France. Currently, she is a Post-Doctoral Fellow at the Centre d’études sur la Chine moderne et contemporaine (CECMC) at EHESS and a Research Associate at the International Consortium for Research in the Humanities "Fate, Freedom and Prognostication" at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg.
- Education: PhD in Social Anthropology from EHESS (2013).
Her research focuses on divinatory practices in contemporary East Asia, particularly hand mnemonics in fate prediction as a unique form of knowledge transmission. She explores comparative perspectives between East Asian countries and India, emphasizing conceptions of time and space. Her teaching includes courses on "Conceptions of time and space in India and China" at EHESS, and she is involved in collaborative projects such as "Pratiquer le comparatisme: terrains, textes, artefacts" and "Chinese religions in France" (EPHE/CNRS).
