Stuart Price is Professor of Media and Political Discourse at De Montfort University, affiliated with the Leicester Media School within the Faculty of Computing, Engineering and Media. He is Director of the Media Discourse Centre and actively contributes to the Meccsa Social Movements Network and the Media, Communication and Cultural Studies Association. His academic roles include teaching Media Discourse: Events, Global Dissent, and contributing to the MA in Investigative Journalism.
His research expertise spans critical discourse analysis, political communication, security studies, and media representations of protest, terrorism, and global dissent. He has published extensively on the 'war on terror,' masculinity in film, the Catalan crisis, feminist strikes in Spain, and the mediation of the UN Sustainable Development Goals. His work critically examines state and corporate power, public order, and the ideological framing of major political events, including the Capitol 'invasion' and the fall of Kabul.
The recent publications highlight a consistent focus on power, discourse, and resistance across global contexts. Themes include the impact of Covid-19 on universities, feminist mobilization, working-class resistance, populism, and the media's role in shaping narratives of security and terror. His editorial work on collections like Journalism, Power and Investigation and Media, Power and the Covid-19 Pandemic underscores his leadership in critical media studies.

Stuart Price has supervised numerous PhD students to completion and currently mentors several doctoral candidates. As an active academic leader, he chairs the Media Discourse Group at DMU and serves as a reviewer for ESRC, AHRC, and SAGE publications, contributing significantly to peer review and academic governance.
He leads the Media Discourse Centre, a research group focused on critical analysis of media and political discourse. His work often involves collaboration with scholars like Dr. Ruth Sanz Sabido, with whom he has co-edited books and special journal issues. The centre supports interdisciplinary research on protest, memory, and the mediation of social movements.
