Dr Ruth Sanz Sabido is Reader in Media and Social Inequality at Canterbury Christ Church University, affiliated with the School of Creative Arts and Industries. She previously served as a PhD Candidate and Lecturer at De Montfort University’s School of Media and Communication. Her academic work bridges media studies, political communication, and cultural analysis.

Her research explores media discourse, historical memory, social movements, conflict reporting, postcolonial theory, and representation of gender and ethnicity. She employs critical discourse analysis to examine how media narratives shape public understanding of terrorism, protest, migration, and national identity. Her work frequently focuses on Spain, the UK, and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
Recent publications reflect a thematic evolution from media representations of terrorism to social inequality, austerity, and grassroots memory movements. Her monographs The Israeli-Palestinian Conflict in the British Press (2019) and Memories of the Spanish Civil War (2016) are central to her scholarly contributions. She has also edited volumes on protest, community representation, and media discourse.
