معرفی
Dr Stuart McMillan is a Research Fellow at the Institute of Aquaculture, University of Stirling. He holds membership in the University's Animal Welfare Ethical Review Body (AWERB) panel and has prior involvement with the divisional Athena SWAN committee. His work focuses on sustainable nutrition in aquaculture, bacterial pathogenesis, and molecular techniques for analyzing microbial communities.
- Research Themes: Sustainable aquaculture practices, marine bacterial pathogen discovery, and development of Galleria mellonella as an alternative infection model.
- Key Projects: Investigating Vibrio anguillarum virulence mechanisms, optimizing antibiotic efficacy in aquaculture systems, and microbial community structure analysis in hatchery environments.
- Publications: Recent work includes studies on Vibrio spp. essential genes (2021), hatchery bacterial communities (2021), and antibiotic dosage optimization (2020). His research bridges aquaculture sustainability with molecular pathogen discovery.
His lab focuses on reducing vertebrate experimentation through invertebrate models while addressing global food security challenges in aquaculture production systems.
