Stina Bergman Blix is a Professor of Sociology at Uppsala University, Sweden, leading the research group Emotion-Justice-Interaction (EmoJI) in the Department of Sociology. Her work focuses on the intersection of emotions and legal processes, particularly in judicial decision-making, courtroom dynamics, and the role of emotion management in legal professions. She serves as Chair of the Editorial Board of Emotions & Society and has coordinated the European Sociological Association Emotion Research Network.
Her research explores themes such as emotional capital in legal contexts, the myth of judicial dispassion, and the sociological analysis of narratives in court proceedings. Her recent publications examine the emotional dimensions of the COVID-19 pandemic’s societal impact, prosecutor behavior in Swedish courts, and comparative cultural frameworks of judicial ethics.
Bergman Blix has contributed to Frontiers in Sociology as Specialty Chief Editor for Sociology of Emotion. Her interdisciplinary approach bridges sociology, law, and emotion studies, with a focus on practical implications for legal practice and policy.
