Stig Munk-Nielsen is a Professor at Aalborg University's Department of Power Electronics System Integration and Materials within the Faculty of Engineering and Science. His research focuses on advanced power electronics, particularly in medium-voltage SiC MOSFET systems, power converter design, and industrial applications. He leads high-impact projects such as GreenHeat (efficient RF generators) and ComElCo (electrolyzer converters), funded by the Innovation Fund Denmark.
His expertise includes semiconductor device characterization, power module packaging, and grid-friendly converter technologies. Notable achievements include pioneering work on gate oscillation mitigation in SiC MOSFETs and developing novel thermal management solutions for power electronics. He has supervised 22 PhD students and holds two prestigious awards: the WiPDA 2024 Best Paper Award and APEC 2023 Outstanding Poster Award. His work bridges academic research with industrial applications, contributing to the green energy transition through innovations in renewable energy systems and power electronics.
