Stewart Jackson

Dr Stewart Jackson is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Government and International Relations at the University of Sydney, within the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. Previously a National Convenor of the Australian Greens for 20 years, his work bridges academic research and grassroots political activism. He is a member of the Sydney Southeast Asia Centre.

• Research focuses on Green politics in Australia and the Asia Pacific, including party development, environmental feminism, and intersections between social movements and parliamentary systems.
• Key publications include The Australian Greens: From Activism to Australia's Third Party (2016) and co-authored textbooks like Australian Politics in the 21st Century (2018/2022).
• Current projects address barriers to green parties in the Asia Pacific, youth climate activism (ARC-funded), and political biographies like that of Jo Vallentine.

Teaching expertise includes Australian politics, political parties, social movements, and ethnic politics. Awards include the 2018 FASS Excellence in Teaching Award. His grants include over $500,000 for youth democratic engagement research.
