Stewart Elgie is a Full Professor at the University of Ottawa's Faculty of Law (Common Law Section) and Associate Director of the Institute of the Environment. He holds a B.A. from Duke and Western Ontario, LL.B. from Western Ontario, and LL.M. from Harvard.

Research Focus: Environmental and natural resources law, with emphasis on constitutional law, endangered species legislation, and sustainable economic policy. He has pioneered public interest environmental litigation in Canada.

He has advised over 100 environmental groups and First Nations communities, with notable Supreme Court of Canada appearances on environmental-constitutional cases.
