Dr. Steven White serves as an Associate Lecturer in English at Anglia Ruskin University, where he has taught since 2012. He currently leads seminars and lectures for 'A History of English Literature' (first year), 'Romantic Conflicts' (second year), and 'Revolution and Reform: The Long Nineteenth Century' (MA), having previously taught the 'Victorian Experience' module.
- Doctorate awarded in 2016 for research on 'Representations of Society in Conservative Poetry, 1790-1798'
- MLitt in Romantic and Victorian Studies from University of St Andrews (2011)
- First Class BA (Hons) in English from Anglia Ruskin University (2010)
His research examines how ideologies and opinions were formed and disseminated through nineteenth-century print media. His current interdisciplinary project 'British Music Magazines, 1830-1900' analyzes specialist publications to reconstruct musical life in late Victorian Britain and understand how these periodicals shaped cultural tastes. His doctoral work investigated how popular conservatism reached cross-class audiences through 1790s poetry.
Dr. White also holds a Pass A CELTA qualification from Bell School, Cambridge (2017) and has been employed by Bell as an English as a Foreign Language teacher since completing his certification.
