Steven Provyn

Steven Provyn is a Professor in the Department of Physiotherapy, Human Physiology and Anatomy at Vrije Universiteit Brussel's Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy. He serves as Head of the Anatomical Research Training and Education department and holds leadership positions including Vice-President of the Belgium Society of Lymphology and Editor-in-chief of the Journal of anatomy and embryology.

His research spans human physiology, sports physiotherapy, and anatomical sciences with particular expertise in body composition, tendons, adiposity, and cadaver studies. His interdisciplinary work connects medical science with historical and archaeological investigations, as evidenced by his studies on medieval skeletal remains from Ypres.

Provyn's recent publications (2023-2025) demonstrate his diverse research interests, ranging from breast cancer treatment optimization and inner ear noise exposure during robotic procedures to medieval mobility patterns and athletic performance boundaries.
