Dr. Steven Pfaff is a Professor of Sociology at Chapman University's Wilkinson College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences. He holds a Ph.D. from New York University, with prior degrees from SUNY Albany (B.A.) and UNC Chapel Hill (M.A.). His research focuses on revolutions, political ideology, historical sociology, and institutional change. Pfaff’s recent work examines how ideological commitments shape revolutionary outcomes and historical diffusion processes, as seen in studies of witch hunts in Central Europe and political dynamics in public education. He has published in journals like Rationality & Society and Theory & Society, and reviews books on historical and political topics.
