Steven M. Ciesielski

Steven M. Ciesielski serves as the Assistant Dean for Student Success and Adjunct Assistant Professor in the School of Nursing at MGH Institute of Health Professions. He leads initiatives to enhance student success, including academic support systems and interventions focused on critical thinking and mindfulness. He holds a PsyD in Leadership Psychology, specializing in DEI and White Privilege, and has been recognized with the 2019 Staff Employee of the Year award.

Research & DEI Focus:
Ciesielski’s work explores systemic barriers to DEI in academia, particularly for BIPOC students. His research highlights psychological dynamics hindering DEI engagement and proposes strategies like white affinity spaces to foster anti-racist practices. He collaborates with the Institute-wide JEDI Council, Wellness Council, and Mental Health Subcommittee.

Advising & Leadership:
As a Dean’s Council member, he advises Judicial Board, Admissions, and Policy committees. He advocates for holistic student support, balancing academic rigor with wellness initiatives.

Labs/Teams:
Leads the Academic Support Coaching team and collaborates on Institute-wide DEI initiatives, emphasizing community-building and servant leadership in crisis management.
